Fontainebleau Wildfires Disrupt Transport Near Paris

Raging wildfires have engulfed the Fontainebleau forest, located approximately 60 kilometers southeast of Paris, prompting evacuations and significant disruptions to train and motorway transport. This escalation, fueled by the ongoing heatwave across Western Europe, has highlighted the region's vulnerability to extreme weather conditions.

By early Monday, the fires had already consumed over 800 hectares, with fanned hot winds exacerbating the situation. Transport routes, including key train lines and a section of the A6 motorway, faced interruptions as emergency services scrambled to control the flames. This unprecedented deployment saw fire-bombing planes redirected from the southern parts of France to assist local firefighters.
