IAEA to Initiate Inspection of Iranian Nuclear Sites

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed plans to inspect Iranian nuclear facilities as a component of the preliminary peace agreement between the United States and Iran. Director General Rafael Grossi announced in Japan that the agency is finalizing modalities, including specific dates and locations, for the upcoming inspections.

This agreement, formalized last week, mandates IAEA oversight over the dilution of Iran's highly enriched uranium. However, Iranian authorities assert that comprehensive access to their nuclear sites will be contingent on the finalization of a broader deal with the US.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, during his Middle Eastern diplomatic mission, affirmed that any arrangement with Iran would not compromise the security interests of US regional allies. Meanwhile, oil markets reacted positively, with Brent crude prices declining as agreements on the maritime passage through the Strait of Hormuz and the lifting of the naval blockade were implemented.
