Herve Renard Returns to Lead Ivory Coast's AFCON Ambitions

In a bid to replicate past success, Herve Renard has been reappointed to helm the Ivory Coast's national football team, the Ivorian federation confirmed. Renard, who orchestrated the country's African Cup of Nations (AFCON) triumph in 2015, steps back into a familiar role as the team prepares for the upcoming tournament, cohosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.

Renard replaces Emerse Fae, whose tenure concluded despite leading Ivory Coast to an unprecedented World Cup knockout stage appearance earlier this year. This strategic shift emerges as part of the Ivorian ambition to reclaim continental glory. Renard's recent interim appointment with Tunisia during the World Cup highlighted his readiness to undertake challenging roles, although his efforts there met with limited success.

The Ivorian squad's qualifying campaign begins next month with pivotal matches against neighboring Ghana and Somalia.
