Mossad and CIA Launch Joint Cyber Operation Targeting Iranian Nuclear Command Network

June 10, 2026

Israeli and American intelligence services have jointly launched a sophisticated cyber operation targeting the command-and-control infrastructure of Iran's nuclear program, according to three officials with direct knowledge of the operation who spoke to Fanaar on condition of anonymity.

The operation, codenamed internally by one participating agency as a "persistent access campaign," reportedly began in late March 2026 and has succeeded in penetrating servers linked to the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) at two undisclosed facilities in the country's central region.

According to the officials, the operation marked the most significant coordinated intelligence action between the two agencies since the Stuxnet campaign of the early 2010s. Unlike that earlier effort, which targeted centrifuge hardware directly, the current operation is focused on surveillance and data exfiltration rather than physical disruption.

"What they want is visibility," said one official familiar with the operation's objectives. "They want to see every communication, every order, every adjustment to the enrichment schedule before it happens."

Iranian officials have not publicly acknowledged any breach. The Iranian mission to the United Nations did not respond to a request for comment submitted by Fanaar.

The operation comes as diplomatic efforts to revive the 2015 nuclear agreement, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, have stalled for the third consecutive quarter. European mediators in Vienna reported last week that talks had produced no substantive progress, with Iranian negotiators insisting on guarantees that no future American administration could unilaterally withdraw from any new agreement.

Intelligence analysts monitoring the region told Fanaar that the cyber operation may serve a dual purpose: gathering technical data on Iran's enrichment capacity while simultaneously signaling to Tehran that its nuclear facilities remain exposed to Western intelligence penetration.

The Mossad declined to comment. The CIA did not respond to a request for comment by publication time.
